Performance note:
The work consists of four independent stereo layers, each divided into hierarchically organized discrete segments. Their sequence suggests one possible reading but does not prescribe a fixed temporal form. Segments may be played successively, individually triggered or pre-grouped into larger units, or otherwise reorganized for and in performance. The supplied segments are thus not a recording of the work but its material. Each layer requires a minimum of two channels for diffusion.
Performances may range from a mixdown to simple stereo playback to four independently controlled stereo pairs distributed across eight discrete channels, or other modes of multichannel spatialization, including object-based spatialization. With four performers, each may control one layer and its associated stereo field, shaping both temporal organization and / or spatial movement in real time. The audience may be placed within the resulting loudspeaker field.
